Pakistan Allows UN to Resume Relief Supplies to Afghanistan via Key Border Crossings

by admin

Pakistan has granted the United Nations access to send humanitarian aid into Afghanistan through two major crossings — Chaman and Torkham — which had been closed for nearly two months.

The decision will allow the movement of essential supplies: food, medical aid, and other relief materials, while trade and regular travel remain suspended.

The closures were imposed following clashes between Afghan and Pakistani forces earlier, but a mediated ceasefire had stalled supply flow.

Afghan officials have criticized previous closures as politically motivated; the UN’s renewed access comes amid urgent humanitarian needs in Afghanistan.

The reopening to aid is a positive step for Afghan civilians, though broader trade and political ties remain suspended.
