Lodhran, – Jahangir Khan Tareen visited flood-affected communities in Khanwah Ghulwan, Lodhran, to meet victims and review ongoing relief activities. He also conducted an aerial survey of the devastated areas.
Speaking to the media and addressing the local community, Jahangir Tareen said the floods have caused severe damage, disrupting communication links and inflicting heavy losses on the economy and agriculture. “It is now a great responsibility of both the government and all of us to play our part in the rehabilitation of flood victims,” he emphasized.
He acknowledged the government faces a tough challenge in restoring normalcy, stressing that collective effort is required. “The floods have awakened us. Reports suggest more water is on its way. We need a system to prevent such devastation in the future and must upgrade our infrastructure. Floods and rains are natural calamities, but proper planning can help minimize future damage,” he added.
Jahangir Tareen reiterated his commitment to public service despite leaving politics. “I thank Allah that I have left politics, but I will never stop caring for the people. Lodhran is my home and its people are my own. I will not seek votes, but I will continue to serve,” he affirmed.
He praised the efforts of the Lodhran Pilot Project (LPP) team, which worked for 16 consecutive days in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to support flood-affected families. Relief operations have included strengthening embankments, assisting in evacuation, and distributing food rations. “So far, rations have been provided to 3,000 families and more than 4,000 individuals have been safely relocated from flooded areas,” Jahangir Tareen shared.
Expressing gratitude to the district administration, he said: “I am thankful to Deputy Commissioner Dr. Lubna Nazir, the district police, and Rescue 1122 for their strong support. My team is working shoulder-to-shoulder with the administration. Dr. Lubna Nazir’s hard work and service in these testing times deserve appreciation.”
