Children from underprivileged and middle-income backgrounds have the same right to modern and quality education as those from financially stable families.

Lahore(16th April, 2026): Jahangir Khan Tareen inaugurated a state-of-the-art computer lab at Government Shuhada-e-APS Memorial Model High School, Model Town. The initiative aims to equip students with modern technological skills and enhance access to quality education.

Addressing the ceremony, Jahangir Khan Tareen stated that children from underprivileged and middle-income backgrounds have the same right to modern and quality education as those from financially stable families. He noted that the high fees of private educational institutions are beyond the reach of the common man, making it a shared responsibility of the government and philanthropists to provide facilities to children with limited resources.

He further added that although he has stepped away from active politics, he is dedicating his full attention and resources to education, healthcare and social welfare to create better opportunities for the underprivileged segments of society. He emphasized that alongside major development projects, the government must prioritize initiatives that directly contribute to improving education for children from low-income backgrounds.

Jahangir Khan Tareen also shared that five computer labs have been established in Khanewal. He expressed concern that the same challenges related to modern and quality education faced in remote areas are also being experienced by students in Lahore. He stressed that progress in today’s world is not possible without modern IT education, and equipping the younger generation with these skills is essential for national development.

Speaking on the occasion, Group Director Finance of JDW Sugar Mills, Muhammad Rafiq, said that JDW Group of Companies is playing a significant role in both social development and contributing to the national exchequer through tax payments. Addressing the students, he urged them not to forget their schools after achieving success in their professional lives and to use their influence and financial resources to support the development of their educational institutions.

Chief Executive Officer of Tareen Education Foundation, Akbar Khan, also addressed the ceremony and shared that the foundation is establishing the Tareen Institute for Computer Education and Resources (TICER) in Lodhran at a cost of PKR 2.5 billion. He stated that the institute will provide youth with education that enables them to secure immediate and dignified employment in IT sector.

On this occasion, Chief Executive Officer of the District Education Authority Lahore, Tariq Mahmood, while addressing the ceremony, appreciated the efforts of Jahangir Khan Tareen for children’s education. He said that these computer labs will play an important role in providing modern education to students, and expressed gratitude to him for providing the computer lab from his personal resources.
